Kwaheri (goodbye)

As I have now properly left Wales and will be living out of a suitcase for the next few months I just wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you to all who have supported me on this journey so far (obviously eager to get rid of me) your donations, words of advice and general encouragement have been truly appreciated and I hope to make you all proud with the work i’ll be doing in school around Tanzania.

Even though i’ve had the past week away from work I have been very busy getting ready and spending time with family and friends;

Tuesday was spent frantically rushing about Cardiff trying to buy the final few items for my trip (apologies to dan, adam and steph for being so all over the place) but on the plus side I did get some nice new clothes and even better- a new camera so I shall be able to utilise what little artsy photography skills I have and photograph every single moment, hopefully the memory card can handle it! 

On Wednesday I had my leaving drinks, from the snippets I can remember and the photos that were taken (practicing using my new toy) I had an awesome night, and am very thankful for the amazing friends that I have who made it such a fun night- going to miss you all, don’t forget me and looking forward to partying again upon my return!

So, after sorting out everything, buying even more bits and bobs, hunting for long lost items, tidying up after myself, packing and repacking (i’m going to even need to repack again tomorrow as surprise surprise my case is way too heavy for the 20kg weight limit), pouring over my swahili phrase book and tanzanian guide book I think I am more or less ready (touch wood.)

Tomorrow I am looking forward to spending time with my family around London. Then pre-departure training on Sunday, it shall be nice to re-unite with friends I met in my Birmingham training all that time ago and to meet the other members of my group that i’ll be spending the next quarter of a year with!

It all still feels very surreal… xxx
